PhotoName
The problem: Photos taken using a digital camera might not always be displayed in chronological order. Some viewers (dvd players or other devices) might sort the files differently, and some cameras (like Nikon) restart the number series of the filename when you move away the files on the memory card. The solution: This program renames the file so that the filename contains the photo date in the following format: YYYYMMDD. If you rename the photo file using PhotoName, the new name will be YYYYMMDD_NNNN.jpg where NNNN is a random number. Now, if the viewing device sorts on file name, all devices will sort the images in the same order. And when you make a CD with your images, you can easily sort the images correctly on the disc. The limitation: This solution only works with photo date. Not the date when the image was last changed. If the EXIF information is missing, the file will not be renamed. Also, the program only works with JPEG files. Raw files and other formats will be ignored. The program uses the ExifWorks class by Michal Altair Valasek. Download here (portable version here). Lösning på problemet heter PhotoName vilket är ett gratisprogram som döper om filerna så att filnamnen innehåller de datum då bilderna togs. Nackdelen med programmet är att det bara klarar jpeg-bilder samt att det kräver att det finns exif-information i en bildfil för att det ska fungera. Just det sistnämnda är dock inget större problem eftersom i princip alla moderna kameror har stöd för exif.
